About

Making a difference to children with special needs in Southern Alberta!

Dreams Take Flight stretches children’s minds. As poet Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote, “One’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.”

Dreams Take Flight is a registered national non-profit charity dedicated to providing the trip-of-a-lifetime to medically, mentally, physically, socially or emotionally challenged children in Canada.

Dreams Take Flight Calgary has been taking deserving children with special needs from Southern Alberta to Disneyland since 1993. We raise our funding through corporate and private donations, charity golf tournaments and this annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans gala event. We are a 100% volunteer charity with volunteers handling fundraising, flight planning, administration and governance. Air Canada donates the aircraft, but the ground crew, flight crew and other services required for the flight are volunteers. Our amazing medical team are volunteers as well!

With your support we can bring some magic to some very deserving Southern Alberta children and make their dreams come true.

For a very long and exciting day, deserving children live an adventure in at Disneyland, with all expenses paid—thanks to sponsors and volunteers.

When they land back home, their minds are stretched to new dimensions. They see new possibilities.

Dreams Take Flight Calgary has had an annual gala event, Black Tie & Blue Jeans, for 19 years to raise funds to take children with special needs in Southern Alberta to Disneyland for a day.

In the past we held the gala event the first weekend of the Calgary Stampede. We have decided to move the gala event this year to the Halloween weekend. So we renamed the event “Black Tie & Boo Jeans”.

We hope you will join us for a fun evening!
